SANTE/2020/12830: New Guidance for analytical method validation

The new “Guidance Document on Pesticide Analytical Methods for Risk Assessment and Post-approval Control and Monitoring Purposes”, came into force in February 2021 (SANTE/2020/12830, Rev.1). It supersedes Guidance Documents SANCO/3029/99 and SANCO/825/00. Main changes include:

• Method validation needs to be performed in each lab involved in data generation
• New calibration requirements
• Detailed description for assessment of matrix effects, stability, and confirmatory methods
• New definition of LOD and LOQ
• New matrix groups have been defined
• Hazardous reagents have been banned
